   ・Radio Day
“Radio Day” was established to commemorate the liberalization of radio wave use from being a government-exclusive tool to one that could be used by all citizens, by virtue of the enactment in 1950 of the Radio Act, the Broadcast Act and the Act for Establishment of the Radio Regulatory Commission. The Radio Day has served for raising awareness on knowledge concerning radio wave use and disseminating it to citizens across all social strata and contributed to the development of radio wave use.
  ・ Info-Communications Promotion Month
“Info-Communications Promotion Month” was established with the objective of promoting and diffusing telecommunications with the telecommunications system reforms of 1985. During the Info-Communications Promotion Month, various telecommunications-related events are carried out in all parts of the country, seeking cooperation and understanding from a wide range of citizens with regard to the realization of a prosperous life through telecommunications.
・ Full digitalization of terrestrial TV broadcasting
After digital broadcasting has started in the three wide spheres (Kanto, Chukyo and Kinki) on December 1, 2003, terrestrial TV broadcasting has gradually expanded its service areas. The analogue broadcasting has ended on July 24, 2011 in 44 prefectures excluding Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures that were heavily damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake and on March 31, 2012 also in those three prefectures, and the full digitalization has been realized.

  Promotion of local digital contents
Each Regional Bureau of Telecommunications has implemented contests for digital contents from the past with the objective of providing places for presenting digital contents works and developing human resources such as future producers. The incentive award will be given to persons who have produced excellent works presented in those contests and who are expected to have a bright future in creative activities. It is called “local,” because information is transmitted from local communities and there are many digital contents works related to local communities.
