
Results of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Official Directive for Partial Revision of Examination Standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held an appeal for opinions on a draft official directive for partial revision of the examination standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act (Official Directive of MIC No.75 of 2001) concerning the change of designation method of telecommunications numbers for mobile phones from May 31 to June 29, 2012. The total of four opinions was submitted to the appeal for opinions and they are officially announced herein together with the MIC’ views.
1.Outline of draft revision
The MIC will partially revise the examination standards related to the Telecommunications Business Act based on the report from the Information and Communications Council titled “State of Systems, etc. relating to Telecommunications Numbers for Expansion of Telephone Numbers for Mobile Phones” (Information and Communications Council No.23 of 2012) which concludes that it is appropriate to swiftly change the designation method of telecommunications numbers for mobile phones from 2012 as a countermeasure against tight telephone numbers for mobile phones.
2.Opinions submitted, etc.
The opinions submitted will be posted in the column of “press release” on the MIC website (http://www.soumu.go.jp) and the column of “public comments” on the e-government portal (e-Gov) (http://www.e-gov.go.jp) and also distributed at the counter of contact below.
3.Future plans
The MIC will swiftly revise the official directive based on the opinions submitted.
