Publication of 2012 “Report on Current Status of Information and Communications” (2012 WHITE PAPER Information and Communications in Japan)

  The MIC has created the WHITE PAPER Information and Communications in Japan every year since 1973 for the purpose of gaining understanding of people for the current status of information and communications in Japan and trends of information and communications policies. This year marks the 40th WHITE PAPER. The theme of feature articles for 2012 WHITE PAPER is “Roadmap to Disaster Reconstruction and Revitalization of Japan led by ICT,” and this WHITE PAPER foresees a roadmap in which ICT contributes to the disaster reconstruction and revitalization in Japan as an engine for growth. The methods of publication are as follows.

  Posting on the website of WHITE PAPER Information and Communications in Japan (*)
  - The Japanese version (full text and outline) will be posted from July 17 (Tue).
  - The English version (gist and outline) will be posted in September (plan).

  Publication
  - Booklets (A4, color) will be sold from July 18 (Wed) at major bookstores, Government Publications Service Center and official gazette sales outlets.

  *Enhancement of contents for smart phones and tablet terminal equipment (distributed by the end of July (plan))
  - Digital books of 2012 WHITE PAPER Information and Communications in Japan (ePub version) will be available for free (distributed for a fee by the last year).
  - 2012 WHITE PAPER Information and Communications in Japan, movie version (with movies to explain the feature articles) will be created and attached to digital books.
