
State of Telephone Number Usage
As of the end of FY2011
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has compiled the state of telecommunication number usage*, changes from the previous fiscal year and utilization rate as of the end of FY 2011 (hereinafter, “the state of usage, etc.”), and they are officially announced herein.
Telecommunications numbers indicate the receiver's line or terminal every time a user makes a phone call or are used as numbers by which users can easily identify types or contents of services in providing telecommunications services.
A report on the state of usage, etc. of telecommunications numbers as of the end of FY 2011 (March 31, 2012) has now been compiled in response to the reports submitted from telecommunications carriers, based on Article 8 of the Rules for Reporting on Telecommunications Business (Ministerial Ordinance of MPT No. 46 of 1988) and Article 10 of said Rules, and it is officially announced herein.
The state of usage, etc. has been published annually since FY 2004, and this is the eighth official announcement.
The following are changes from the end of FY2010 in terms of the number of main telecommunications numbers in use.

*The state of usage, etc. refers to the state of numbers actually supplied by telecommunications carriers to their subscribers, with respect to the numbers designated to telecommunications carriers by the MIC.
