Invitation of Organizations to Cooperate on Experimental Study of ICT Literacy Development Model System

Implementation of “ICT Smart Communication Project*” by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has newly established “ICT Smart Communication Project,” an experimental study of ICT literacy development model system. The MIC will invite local public bodies to cooperate on this project.

1.Outline of project

In this project, the MIC will conduct an experimental study of model systems for ICT literacy development for the first time by installing information terminals easy to use for children and the elderly in public facilities such as libraries, community halls and children’s halls in order to promote beneficial, safe and secure use of the Internet services.
To conduct this experimental study, the MIC will call public facilities such as libraries and community halls for opening to the public as experimental fields for installing and operating information terminals and wireless LAN equipment related to the model systems, and invite local public bodies to cooperate on the experimental study.
It is expected that the participation in this project would help local public bodies to improve ICT literacy of local residents, revitalize community activities through utilization of ICT by the elderly, and effectively use and revitalize public facilities.
