
Appeal for Opinions on “Draft Revision of Guidelines for Consumer Protection Rules for the Telecommunications Business Act
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) formulated the “Guidelines for Consumer Protection Rules for the Telecommunications Business Act” in March 2004 (partially revised in November 2006 and July 2009) so that consumers can use telecommunication services with security, and has operated them.
The MIC has recently decided to revise the Guidelines on the basis of the “Proposals for Ensuring and Improving Interests of Users of Telecommunications Services” compiled in December 2011 at the Study Group on consumer issues with ICT services to be provided from a perspective of consumers. An appeal for opinions on this draft revision will be held from September 8 (Sat) to September 28 (Fri), 2012.

The subject of the appeal for opinions will be posted in the column of “press release” on the MIC website (http://www.soumu.go.jp) and the column of “public comments” on the e-government portal (e-Gov) (http://www.e-gov.go.jp) and also distributed at counters of contact.
2.Future plans
The MIC will swiftly revise the “Guidelines for Consumer Protection Rules for the Telecommunications Business Act” based on opinions submitted and officially announce them.
