Commendation for Individuals, etc. who Contributed to Promotion of Computerization in FY2012

Decision of Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award
  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has granted“Award for Individuals, etc. who Contributed to the Promotion of Computerization” to commend individuals, companies, etc. (companies, organizations, educational institutions, etc.) recognized to have contributed to the promotion of computerization of the economic society.
  Winners for the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award have now been decided and they are officially announced herein.

1.Outline of Award for Individuals, etc. who Contributed to the Promotion of Computerization

  The Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications commends individuals, companies, etc. recognized to have played a leading role or achieved remarkable results in the promotion of computerization such as research and development of advanced information and communication technology (ICT), development of advanced ICT human resources, introduction of ICT to companies that are delayed in utilizing ICT and solution of social issues utilizing ICT.
  The award has been granted continuously from 1972 as a part of events implemented during the Informatization Month (*) held in October every year and this year commemorates the 41st award.

  - Contributors to promotion of computerization (Category of individuals)
  Mr. HisaoIizuka: Chairman, Telecom-ISAC Japan, Japan Data Communications Association
  Mr. Akira Morita: Professor, Department of Political Studies, Faculty of Law, Gakushuin University
  Mr. Yukio Shiwa: Vice Chairman, General Headquarters, Saga Prefectural Government
  - Contributors to promotion of computerization (Category of companies)
  Board of Education, Miyakojima City, Okinawa prefecture
  Digital Signage Consortium
 

3.Award ceremony

  - The date and time: October 1 (Mon), 2012, 5:00~6:00PM
  - Venue: Iino Hall (2-1-1, Uchisaiwai-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan)
  *On the day of the award ceremony, the winners of the Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Award, the Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award and the Minister for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award will be commended, in addition to the winners of the Minister for the Internal Affairs and Communications Award.


  (*) Informatizaion Month
  The six ministries and agencies (METI, MIC, Cabinet Office, Ministry of Finance, MEXT and MILT) have set every October as “Informatization Month” from 1972 and implemented various events for promotion of computerization with a view to promoting computerization in Japan and realizing affluent people’s life.
  The Informatization Month has been celebrated jointly by the Informatization Month Promotion Conference consisting of various organizations in the private sector related to the computerization businesses and the six related ministries agencies including the MIC and the METI until FY2011. After that, the four host ministries and agencies (MIC, METI, MILT and MEXT) and the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Finance are to cooperatively celebrate the event.
