Fifth Japan-ASEAN Information Security Policy Meeting and Japan-ASEAN Information Security Symposium to be Held

  The “Fifth Japan-ASEAN Information Security Policy Meeting” (hereinafter “Policy Meeting”) (*1) will be held on 10 (Wed) and 11 (Thu) October, 2012, and the First Japan-ASEAN Information Security Symposium (hereinafter “Symposium”) will be held on October 12 (Fri), 2012.
  In the Policy Meeting, opinions will be exchanged aiming at strengthened international collaboration and efforts between Japan and the ASEAN countries (*2) in the information security field, one of the infrastructures for socioeconomic activities. In the symposium to be held in conjunction with the “Information Security International Campaign” (press release of September 28), the current state of information security policies in the ASEAN region, measures for collaboration between Japan and ASEAN in the future, and the public-private collaboration in Japan and ASEAN will be presented.
 

1.Purpose

  The policy meeting and the symposium aim to contribute to improvement of regional information security levels by strengthening international collaboration and efforts with the ASEAN countries in the information security field, one of the infrastructures for socioeconomic activities, and to strengthen the relationship between Japan and ASEAN, and to expand exchanges between them through the above-mentioned collaboration and efforts.

  Chairs: Japan (Ryozo Hayashi, Director of Meiji Institute for Global Affairs), Cambodia (Mao Chakrya, Director General of the General Department at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and General Director of Telecom Regulatory Agency of Cambodia)
  Attendees: Directors of bureaus and vice ministers of ministries and agencies related to economy, investment, and information and communications from the ten ASEAN member countries, ASEAN Secretariat, and directors of bureaus and vice ministers of Cabinet Secretariat, MIC and METI from Japan, etc.
