Implementation of Survey on Use of 1.7GHz-band Mobile Radio Communication System
As the Action Plan for Spectrum Reallocation (revised version of September 2011) by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) provides that the frequency bands of 5MHz bandwidth x 2 (1744.9~1749.9MHz/1839.9~1844.9MHz) shall be newly ensured with respect to the 1.7GHz band, a survey will be conducted from September 28 (Fri) to October 11 (Thu), 2012 in order to grasp the needs for said frequency band.
1.Background and purpose
The MIC has officially announced the Action Plan for Spectrum Reallocation (revised version of September 2011) in September 2011 and is making efforts for ensuring frequencies, etc. toward the realization of wireless broadband environments. Among these efforts, the MIC decided to strive to make adjustments for newly ensuring the frequency bands of 5MHz bandwidth x 2 (1744.9~1749.9MHz/1839.9~1844.9MHz) concerning the 1.7GHz band for mobile radio communication during FY2012. Therefore, this survey will be conducted for the purpose of grasping the needs for said frequency band.
2.Position of this survey
This survey will be conducted to grasp the needs for the above-mentioned frequency band. Response to this survey is voluntary to the last, and will not be taken in consideration in allowing the use of the frequency band.
3.Method of implementation of this survey
Any person who is planning to use mobile radio communication systems using the 1.7GHz bands (1744.9~1749.9MHz/1839.9~1844.9MHz) shall submit the survey items in Exhibit 1 according to the method mentioned in Exhibit 2.
4.Period of implementation
From September 28 (Fri) to October 11 (Thu), 2012
5.Future plans
The MIC will compile and officially announce results of this survey and use them as reference to future institutional improvements.
