Actual Results of Subtitled Broadcasting in FY2011
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is working to promote the propagation of subtitled television broadcasting, etc. so as to show consideration for aged persons and persons with seeing/hearing impairments. As part of this initiative, the actual results of subtitled broadcasting, commentary broadcasting and sign language broadcasting in FY2011 have now been compiled, and they are officially announced herein.
The outline of actual results of subtitled broadcasting, etc. in FY2011 is as follows.

(Note 1): This survey was conducted in the periods of two sample weeks (a week from May 30 (Mon) to June 5 (Sun) and a week from November 28 (Mon) to December 4 (Sun), 2011).
All broadcasting programs broadcasted from 7:00AM to midnight except for the following types of broadcasting programs shall be targets of propagation:
・Broadcasting programs to which subtitles cannot be added due to technical reasons (e.g. At present, live broadcasting programs where multiple persons are speaking simultaneously)
・Foreign-language programs
・Music programs mainly constituting instrumental music performances
・Broadcasting programs to which subtitles cannot be added due to right-related issues

(Note 4): Wide area four stations in Nagoya: Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting Co., Ltd.; TOKAI TELEVISION BROADCASTING CO., LTD.; Nagoya Broadcasting Network Co., Ltd.; Chukyo Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd.
(Note 5): All broadcasting programs broadcasted from 7:00AM to midnight except for the broadcasting programs which cannot provide commentary due to right-related issues, etc. shall be targets of propagation.
