Results of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Partial Revision of Notice related to Designation of Category II Designated Telecommunications Facilities based on the Provision of Article 34, Paragraph 1 of the Telecommunications Business Act and Repeat Appeal for Opinions

1.Outline of inquiry

  The Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act was revised on June 19, 2012 in such a way that the share of specified mobile terminal facilities which are used as a standard for designation of category II designated telecommunications facilities shall be “over 10%”. In response to this revision, a related notice will be partially revised to designate part of telecommunications facilities established by Softbank Mobile Corp., which has more than 10% of the share, as category II designated telecommunications facilities, based on the provision of Article 34, Paragraph 1 of the Telecommunications Business Act.
 

2.Opinions submitted

  The opinions submitted will be posted in the column of “press release” on the MIC website (http://www.soumu.go.jp) and the column of “public comments” on the e-government portal (e-Gov) (http://www.e-gov.go.jp) and also distributed for reading at the counter of contact of General Affairs Division, Information and Communications Bureau of the MIC

Deadline for repeat appeal for opinions: October 24 (Wed), 2012, 5:00PM (submissions by mail must also arrive by this date)
 

4.Future plans

  The MIC will make investigations and deliberations on this draft ministerial ordinance based on the opinions submitted and opinions in response to the repeat appeal for opinions, and submit a report to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications.
