Appeal for Opinions on Draft Report from IP Network Facilities Subcommittee – Matters related to Measures for Safety and Reliability Corresponding to Switchover of Networks to IP
The IP Network Facilities Subcommittee, Department on Information and Communications Technology, Information and Communications Council (Chief Investigator: Hitoshi Aida, Professor at the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo) has deliberated on the matters related to measures for safety and reliability corresponding to the switchover of networks to IP since April 2012.
A draft report from the Subcommittee has now been compiled and an appeal for opinions on this draft report from the wide public will be held from October 12 (Fri) to November 12 (Mon), 2012 in accordance with the following guidelines.
1.Background and outline
It is required to strengthen measures for information and telecommunications networks based on the review of the Regulations for Telecommunications Facilities for Telecommunications Business in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake, smartphone age and information security threats.
Therefore, the “standards for safety and reliability of information and communications networks (guidelines for measures for safety and reliability of networks of telecommunications carriers, etc.,)” and the “technical requirements” have been deliberated comprehensively for review, from the perspective of disaster tolerance of telecommunications facilities, ensuring safety and reliability of telecommunications facilities corresponding to the smartphone age, and strengthening information security measures.
The draft report from the IP Network Facilities Subcommittee has been made up of the deliberations results so far.
It will be posted in the column of “press release” on the MIC website (http://www.soumu.go.jp) and the column of “public comments” on the e-government portal (e-Gov) (http://www.e-gov.go.jp) and also distributed at the counter of contact (IP Network Facilities Subcommittee Secretariat).
