  - Ms. Emilie Van Deventer (Director of the International Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Project at World Health Organization*1 (WHO))
  - Mr. Joachim Schüz (Head of the Section of Environment and Radiation at the International Agency for Research on Cancer*2 (IARC))
  - Mr. Rüdiger Matthes (Chairperson of the Main Commission at the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection*3 (ICNIRP))

  Session 2: Large-scale study projects
In this session, researchers delegated by each country will introduce the latest trends of research projects (speakers undecided).

*1 World Health Organization (WHO): A specialized agency of the United Nations. This organization promotes the International EMF Project, evaluates scientific knowledge on health effects of electromagnetic fields, promotes and coordinates research plans therefor, and provides all countries with information thereon. The WHO is planning to publicize the Environmental Health Criteria on Radio-frequency Electromagnetic Fields in 2014 and carry out a comprehensive health risk assessment.
*2 International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC): A specialized agency for research on cancer under the WHO. This organization conducts researches on carcinogenicity of various substances, etc., and assesses the credibility of evidences. It assessed the credibility of evidences of carcinogenicity of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields and classified it as Group 2B (probability of carcinogenicity) in the IARC Monographs on the Evaluation of Carcinogenic Risks to Human published in 2011.
*3 International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP): A neutral non-governmental organization that cooperates with international organizations such as the WHO and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The principal role is to issue recommendations on the guidelines for human body protection against non-ionizing radiation and provide scientific information thereon. In 1998, the organization created the “Guidelines for Limiting Exposure to Time-varying Electric, Magnetic and Electromagnetic Fields (up to 300 GHz). The guidelines have been used throughout the world for protection from radio-frequency electromagnetic fields and are equivalent to the Japan’s Guidelines for Radio-radiation Protection.
