Improvement of provisions accompanying the termination of operation of 2G mobile radio communication systems
From September 1 to October 1, 2012, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held an appeal for opinions on draft partial revisions of notices, etc. related to the Ordinance Concerning Terminal Facilities Etc., for institutional improvement accompanying the termination of operation of 2G mobile radio communications systems. In response to the appeal for opinions, no opinion was submitted.
The MIC will swiftly improve the provisions based on the results of the appeal for opinions.
1.Background and outline of revision
As the switching over (reallocation of frequencies) from 2G mobile radio communication systems to 3G mobile radio communication systems (including 3.5G and 3.9G) had been completed by July 24, 2012 in the context of expanded dissemination of portable radio communications, the MIC held an appeal for opinions on draft institutional improvement to delete the provisions for 2G mobile radio communication systems, etc. Its results were officially announced on September 28, 2012. In line with this, the provisions for the following notices related to the Ordinance Concerning Terminal Facilities, Etc. will be improved.

(4) Draft Notice for Partial Revision of the Subject Stipulating Terminal Facilities that Are not Allowed to Reject Requests for Connection from Users among Those Using Radio Waves (Notice of MPT No. 72 of 1994)

2.Results of appeal for opinions
The appeal for opinions on the draft revision of notices was held from September 1 to October 1, 2012, in response to which no opinion was submitted.
