Implementation of Survey on Use of 2.5GHz-band Broadband Mobile Wireless Access (BWA) System
As the Action Plan for Spectrum Reallocation (revised version of October 2012) by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) provides that frequency bands are planned to be expanded in the 2.5GHz band (2625~2655MHz) concerning the use of broadband mobile wireless access (BWA) system, a survey will be conducted from October 26 (Fri) to November 8 (Thu), 2012 in order to grasp the needs for said frequency band.
1.Background and purpose
The MIC officially announced the Action Plan for Spectrum Reallocation (revised version of October 2012) on October 10, 2012, and is making efforts for ensuring frequencies, etc. toward the realization of wireless broadband environments. Among these efforts, the MIC is planning to expand frequency bands in the 2.5GHz band (2625~2655MHz) in order to realize high-speed communications by BWA with respect to the use of broadband mobile wireless access (BWA) system, and a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating its approval for a draft change of the Frequency Assignment Plan related to those frequency bands was received on the same date. In response, this survey will be conducted for the purpose of grasping the needs for said frequency bands.
2.Position of this survey
This survey will be conducted to grasp the needs for the above-mentioned frequency band. Response to this survey is voluntary to the last, and will not be taken in consideration in allowing the use of the frequency band.
3.Method of implementation of this survey
A person who is planning to use BWA using the 2.5GHz band (2625~2655MHz) shall submit the survey items.
4.Period for this survey
From October 26 (Fri) to November 8 (Thu), 2012
5.Future plans
The MIC will compile and officially announce results of this survey and use them as reference to future institutional improvements.
