October 31, 2012

Approval of Change of Interconnection Tariff Relating to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation

Improvement of provisions related to the addition of tentative reservation function of installation dates for optical signal terminal lines
As of October 31, 2012, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) approved the change of the interconnection tariff concerning category I designated telecommunications facilities applied by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (hereinafter “NTT East”) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereinafter “NTT West”).

1.Background

This case is to change the interconnection tariff based on the requests from interconnection carriers so that they can make tentative reservations of installation dates before applications for connection are made, and said tentatively-reserved installation dates can be treated as installation dates designated by interconnection carriers, for when they apply for connections with dark fibers of NTT East or NTT West.
In addition, in order to add additional functions related to said tentative reservation of installation dates, the network modification fee related to said functions is newly prescribed in the interconnection tariff.

2.Others

This case is based on the proviso of Article 169 of the Telecommunications Business Act (Act No. 86 of 1984), etc. and was approved as a minor matter which does not require an inquiry to the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council.
