Appeal for Opinions on Draft Partial Change of the Plan for the Available Frequencies Allocated for Core Broadcasting
Improvement of reception environments of terrestrial digital television broadcasting in Fukuoka prefecture
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has created a draft partial change of the Plan for the Available Frequencies Allocated for Core Broadcasting (Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Public Notice No.661 of 1988) related to terrestrial digital television broadcasting. The MIC will hold an appeal for opinions on this draft change from November 3 (Sat) to December 2 (Sun), 2012.
1.Major content
(1) Background
Currently a phenomenon of receiving interference has been recognized in some areas around Munakata City, Koga City and Fukutsu City in Fukuoka Prefecture due to effects of anomalous radio propagation phenomenon (radio duct) that occurs seasonally on rare occasions depending on weather conditions.
In order to ensure good reception environments for terrestrial digital television broadcasting by solving this receiving interference problem, it is necessary to switch channels of some relay stations.
The Plan for the Available Frequencies Allocated for Core Broadcasting will be partially changed to ensure good reception environments for terrestrial television broadcasting in the above-mentioned areas.
(2) Outline of change As for Fukuoka Prefecture, frequencies (channel numbers) of relay stations that use “Munakata” as a place for transmission among the subject areas of terrestrial digital television broadcasting of core broadcasting operators will be changed.
