Appeal for Opinions on Views of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Application for Approval of “Addition of Programs Provided in Services for Providing General Public with Broadcasting Programs through the Internet at the Same Time as their Broadcasting to Improve Bad Reception of Radio Broadcasting of NHK” Implemented by NHK upon Approval based on Article 20, Paragraph 10 of the Radio Act

1. Background

     On December 4, 2012, NHK made an application for approval of “addition of programs provided in services for providing the general public with broadcasting programs through the Internet at the same time as their broadcasting to improve bad reception of radio broadcasting of NHK” as a service mentioned in Article 20, Paragraph 2, Item (viii) of the Radio Act (Act No.132 of 1950) pursuant to the provision of Article 20, Paragraph 10 of said Act. The MIC has compiled its views on this application for approval at this moment.
      In response to this, an appeal for opinions on these views will be held widely.

MIC’s views on the application for approval of “addition of Programs Provided in Business for Providing General Public with Broadcasting Programs through the Internet at the Same Time as their Broadcasting to Improve Bad Reception of Radio Broadcasting of NHK” Implemented by NHK upon Approval based on Article 20, Paragraph 10 of the Radio Act

4. Method of submission of opinions

   The content of this appeal for opinions will be posted on the MIC website and the e-government portal (e-Gov) and distributed at the following contacts.
    

5. Future plans

   The MIC will make investigations based on opinions submitted and submit an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council to be held in January 2013.
