
Results of Appeal for Opinions on Draft Official Directive for Partial Revision of Examination Standards related to the Radio Act
Clarification of provisions concerning broadband mobile wireless access system
From December 8, 2012 to January 7, 2013, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held an appeal for opinions on a draft official directive for partial revision of the examination standards related to the Radio Act in order to clarify related provisions for broadband mobile wireless access system. In response to this, four opinions were submitted. The opinions submitted and the MIC’s views thereon are officially announced herein.
1.Background and outline of revision
The MIC approved the plan for establishment of specified base stations that use frequencies in the 2.5GHz band in December 2007 concerning broadband mobile wireless access system and the effective period (5 years) will terminate soon. Therefore, the examination standards related to the Radio Act will be partially revised with a view to clarifying the relationship with the application of future guidelines for establishment and improving provisions for the examination standards related to the Radio Act (Official directive of MIC No.67 of January 6, 2001).
2.Results of the appeal for opinions
Four opinions were submitted in response to the appeal for opinions.
3.Future plans
The MIC will swiftly revise the examination standards related to the Radio Act based on the results of the appeal for opinions.
