Appeal for Opinions on Draft Revision of Ministerial Ordinance related to Expansion of Subjects of the System of Self Declaration of Conformity to Technical Standards

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) created a draft revision of a ministerial ordinance related to the Radio Act in order to expand the subjects of the system of self declaration of conformity to technical standards based on a report from the “Investigative Commission for Promotion of Effective Use of Radio Spectrum” (Chairman: Norihisa Doi, Professor of Research and Development Initiatives, Chuo University).
  An appeal for opinions on said draft revision will be held from March 16 (Sat) to April 15 (Mon), 2013.

1.Outline

  Based on a report from the “Investigative Commission for Promotion of Effective Use of Radio Spectrum” compiled in December 2012, the Ordinance Concerning Technical Regulations Conformity Certification of Specified Radio Equipment will be partially revised in order to newly add wireless LAN (low-power data communication system) accommodated in the same bodies as mobile phone terminals, PHS terminals, etc. to the subjects of the system of self declaration of conformity to technical standards based on the Radio Act.
 

2.Guidelines for appeal for opinions

  (1) Subject: Draft ministerial ordinance for partial revision of the Ordinance Concerning Technical Regulations Conformity Certification of Specified Radio Equipment
  (2) Deadline for submission of opinions: April 15 (Mon), 2013, 5:00PM (submission of opinions by mail must also arrive by this date)
  

3.Future plans

  The MIC will swiftly revise the related ministerial ordinance based on opinions submitted.
