Japan and Hong Kong reach an agreement to promote cooperation in the information and communications field, sign Arrangement on ICT Cooperation



A valuable and wide-ranging exchange of opinions was held in Hong Kong on March 23 between TAKAHARA Kozo, MPHPT Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination, and TSANG John, Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, on the subject of cooperation between Japan and Hong Kong in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) policy.

At the meeting, both sides acknowledged that ICT is a vital basis for developing and bringing Asia closer together and that cooperation based on ICT policies such as Japan's "Asia Broadband Program" will speed up the development of Asia's broadband network. They agreed on and signed an arrangement that includes promoting cooperation between Japan and Hong Kong in ICT fields such as broadband networks.
