MPHPT announces report from Radio Regulatory Council and results of invitation to comment concerning partial amendment of the Rules for Regulating Radio Equipment

The MPHPT today received a report from the Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by Prof. YASUDA Yasuhiko, Waseda University) concerning the partial amendment of the Rules for Regulating Radio Equipment and a draft modification of the Frequency Assignment Plan, stating that they are appropriate. These are related to the introduction of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) for third-generation mobile communication systems (IMT-2000) and the rearrangement of mobile service frequencies in the 800 MHz band.

The MPHPT had also invited comments concerning these draft amendments from July 14 until August 13, and received five comments.

The MPHPT will take this report and the comments into consideration and will enact the relevant ministerial ordinances.
