MPHPT receives report from Radio Regulatory Council concerning applications by KDDI and Okinawa Cellular Telephone for blanket licenses for specified radio stations



MIC today submitted an inquiry and received a report from Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by Prof. YASUDA Yasuhiko, Waseda University) concerning the applications for blanket licenses from KDDI Corporation (President, ONODERA Tadashi) and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company (President, OKIHASHI Toshio). These licenses are in conjunction with Introduction of dual-mode terminals for CDMA2000 1x (800 MHzmegahertz and 2 GHzgigahertz range) and EV-DO (800 MHzmegahertz range) formats in 10 areas including Hokkaido. The report stated that granting the licenses was appropriate as these were acknowledged to be in accordance with regulatincluding the Radio Law.

The licenses will be granted once the necessary formalities have been completed at the Bureaus of Telecommunications in Hokkaido, Tohoku, Shinetsu, Tokai, Hokuriku, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu, as well as the Okinawa Office of Telecommunications.
