Number of Broadband Service Subscribers (as of September 2005)

Pursuant to the provisions of the ''Rules for Reporting on Telecommunications Business (Ministerial Ordinance of MPT No. 46 of 1988),'' MIC compiled the number of contracts, etc. as of the end of September 2005 reported by telecommunications carriers.
Major trends of the results are as follows:

- The number of contracts for broadband services is 21.43 million.
The number of contracts for broadband services as of the end of September 2005 is 21.43 million.This shows an increase of 850,000 contracts within a quarter (FY2005 Q-II2, July through September) compared to 20.58 million as of the end of June 2005 (FY2005 Q-I1, April through June).

Note: The ''Broadband Total'' indicates the total number of contracts for FTTH (fiber-to-the-home), DSL (digital subscriber line), cable TV and FWA (fixed wireless access) services.

- The number of contracts for FTTH services is 3.98 million.
The number of contracts for FTTH services as of the end of September 2005 is 3.98 million, drawing near the 4 million mark.The net increase of FTTH contracts in FY2005 Q-II2 is the record-high 570,000 contracts.The number of FTTH contracts is about two times bigger (a growth rate of 96%) than that of the same period in the previous fiscal year.
