Public Comments to Be Invited on Draft "Information Security Management Guidelines"

Organizations are faced with information security threats including viral infection, cyber-attacking and information leakage in these days. Establishing an information security management system is an essential task for organizations. With regard to such issues, the second report of July 7, 2005, compiled by the "Study Group on Next Generation IP-based Infrastructure" (Chair: Dr. SAITO Tadao, Professor Emeritus, the University of Tokyo) proposed that it would be vital to promote widespread use of "Information Security Management Guidelines" targeting telecommunications carriers.
According to this report, MIC drafted the "Information Security Management Guidelines" based on ITU Recommendation X.1051 for information security management, referencing mandatory requirements to be abided by telecommunications carriers and other international standards for information security management. Thus, MIC invites public comments on the draft. those wishing to submit comments thereon, please fill in the official form in the Japanese language and submit it to MIC.
MIC will, taking into account such public comments, amend said draft and announce the amended Guidelines. Furthermore, MIC will propose the Guidelines to ITU and contribute to discussion in ITU regarding Information Security Management Guideline for telecommunications carrier.
