Public Comments to Be Invited on "Guidelines to Combat Dishonest Acts in Research Activities in ICT Field" (Draft)

In recent years, "dishonest acts in research activities," such as forgery or plagiarism of research data, have been discovered, threatening the confidence in science and technology held by the Japanese public. Against such a backdrop, the Cabinet Office and ministries, including the Council for Science and Technology Policy, have been deliberating upon countermeasures for preventing reoccurrence of such dishonest acts.
In response to such efforts, MIC, which delivers public funds for promoting research activities in the ICT field, will develop the "Guidelines to Combat Dishonest Acts in Research Activities in ICT Field" in order to prevent reoccurrence of such dishonest acts.
Thus, MIC invites public comments on the draft "Guidelines to Combat Dishonest Acts in Research Activities in ICT Field" during the period from September 12 through October 10, 2006.
Those wishing to submit a comment, please fill out the official form using the Japanese language and send it to MIC.
The draft Guidelines are available at the following website:
