Public Comment Invited on Draft Notice to Partially Amend MIC Notice Setting Forth Letters and Such to Be Marked on Specified Radio Equipment

Handling of construction design numbers pursuant to changes made to the types, designs, or gains of antennas
MIC compiled a draft notice (hereinafter referred to as the Draft Notice) to partially amend MIC Notice No. 460 of 2003 (setting forth letters and such to be marked on specified radio equipment).

In line with this, public comment is invited on the Draft Notice starting from today and until July 13 (Fri) of this year.

1. Background and overview of amendment
Recently, along with model changes made to products, such as wireless LAN systems, categorized as specified radio equipment (small power data communications systems), additions or changes are frequently made particularly to the antennas of these products. For business operators dealing in the certification process for these, the management of the marks to be displayed on specified radio equipment based on certified construction designs has become a burdensome task.

In view of this situation, MIC has decided to partially amend MIC Notice No. 460 of 2003 (setting forth letters and such to be marked on specified radio equipment) to allow registration and certification organizations to provide the same letters and such to a new certified construction design as those provided to its original certified construction design if the former concerns, among all other changes, only changes made to the type, design, or gain of the antenna.
