MIC today consulted the Radio Regulatory Council (Chair: Prof. HATORI Mitsutoshi, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Chuo University) on authorization for program-supplying broadcasting service and domestic program-supplying broadcasting service pertaining to BS analog broadcasting and abolishment of broadcasting stations. The council submitted its report stating that the proposed authorization is appropriate.
MIC thus authorizes the services and abolishment as follows.

1. WOWOW Inc (President: WAZAKI Nobuya) has applied for standard television broadcasting (one program) in regard to program-supplying broadcasting service pertaining to BS analog broadcasting.
Meanwhile, Japan Broadcasting Corporation (President: HASHIMOTO Genichi; hereinafter called "NHK") has applied for standard television broadcasting service (two programs) in regard to domestic program-supplying broadcasting service.
NHK has also applied for authorization to abolish three broadcasting stations (two broadcasting satellite stations for standard television broadcasting and one broadcasting satellite station for high definition television broadcasting).
Based on the council report, MIC promptly authorizes the program-supplying services and abolishment of broadcasting stations.

2. MIC will issue the certificates of authorization on September 13, 2007.
