Public Comment Released and Re-invited on Draft Changes to Interconnection Tariffs concerning Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of NTT East and NTT West

Changes to the collocation procedures, etc. in accordance with the partial amendment to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Law and such
On August 31, 2007, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications consulted the Telecommunications Council on the authorization of changes to the interconnection tariffs concerning Category I designated telecommunications facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (changes to the collocation procedures, etc. in accordance with the partial amendment to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Law and such).
In response to this, the Sub-Council extensively invited public comment on the draft changes to the interconnection tariffs from September 1 to October 1, 2007.
Based on the comments submitted during that period, MIC has decided to re-invite public comment thereon until October 16, 2007.

1. Background of the changes
On March 30, 2007, the Telecommunications Council submitted Report No. 34 on the development of the interconnection rules in relation to review, etc. of the collocation rules. The council advised taking measures for Category I designated telecommunications facilities, and to that end, developing collocation rules, etc., by amending the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Law and such.
The interconnection tariffs will be changed accordingly.

2. Future schedule
Based on the public comment received, the Sub-Council will study and deliberate the draft changes, and report to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications.
