[Outline]
MIC has conducted Research and Development of Technologies for Sophisticated Use of Intelligent Home Appliances since FY2006, with a goal to finalize the specifications by the end of FY2008, in regard to home gateways that are compatible with a variety of communications systems between appliance categories, such as AV devices and home appliances, to freely connect and control any kind of intelligent home appliances.

The forthcoming next-generation home network demonstration experiments will focus on producing prototypes of devices having gateway functionality and connecting them to various intelligent home appliances to verify the gateway functionality and the device specifications.
