Release of Report on Economic Trends in the ICT Industry
(Q3 of 2007)

MIC has released its Report on Economic Trends in the ICT Industry for the third quarter (July to September) of 2007.

[Key trends]
- With expanding production and shipment, inventory growth slowed. Business confidence remains steady.
- Capital investment by the ICT industry was substantially reduced year on year, because the ICT industry has completed development of the base stations necessary for third-generation mobile telephones.
- ICT-related investment continues to decline.
- International division of labor in Asian countries has increased, particularly for communications devices.
In conjunction with the transfer of production sites to other Asian countries, export of communication device parts to such production sites, as well as import of end products such as mobile telephone assembled at these sites, increased.
