Authorization of Changes to the Interconnection Tariffs concerning Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of NTT East and NTT West

Addition of access charge payment methods in regard to redirection network usage
MIC today authorized the changes to the interconnection tariffs concerning Category I designated telecommunication facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (NTT West) as per their applications.

[Background to the changes]
NTT East and NTT West currently provide the function to use their redirection network1 to PHS service providers as users of NTT's network2 via intermediate providers. MIC intends to change the interconnection tariffs to add new payment methods concerning this function.

Note 1: A function to redirect (switch) traffic by using a NTT East or NTT West local switch, for a provider who has entered into an agreement concerning interconnection via NTT East, NTT West or intermediate provider transit switch, to set the communications route for its traffic
Note 2: Providers who provide PHS (Personal Handyphone System) service by using NTT East and NTT West's telecommunications equipment and its functions, including PHS connection units and control stations
