Educational Activities Started through Website Announcing Extermination Campaign against Bots

To mark the Information Security Day established by the Information Security Policy Council, MIC designates February as the month for an intensive bot extermination campaign, and it now starts educational activities through the website that announces its extermination campaign against bots.

[Outline]
As part of government efforts to promote information security measures, MIC, through cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as well as many other concerned parties, has implemented the anti-bot project, an initiative to rapidly and effectively stop cyber attacks from bot-infected computers, thereby contributing to the development of a safe and secure Internet environment.

Having established the Cyber Clean Center as its operating body in December 2006, the project has conducted an activity in which project-participating ISPs raise user awareness of bot-infected computers.

As part of Information Security Day events, MIC designates the period from February 1 through 29, 2008, as the month for its bot extermination campaign and implements educational activities by optimizing the website that announces the extermination campaign against bots through cooperation with Telecom-ISAC Japan, which established the website. The website has links to the top pages of project-participating ISP websites so that MIC, Telecom-ISAC Japan and ISPs can join forces to raise people's awareness of bots and the importance of information security.
