MIC invited proposals on the strategic evaluation of "Analysis on inter-carrier transactions' impacts on competition (hereinafter, "analysis") based on the Detailed Items for Implementation of Competition Review in the Telecommunications Business Field 2007 (hereinafter, "Implementation Details 2007") from February 14 to March 6, 2008. Consequently, MIC received 10 proposals.
1. Background
Based on the Guidelines concerning Competition Review in the Telecommunications Business Field 2006-2008 (released on October 13, 2006), MIC decides annual themes for standardized evaluation and strategic evaluation of implementation details and conducts competition review in the telecommunications business field. Strategic evaluation focuses on the specific themes to ensure that the themes can be more relevant to policies.
For this fiscal year, MIC will conduct the said analysis for strategic evaluation by considering Implementation Details 2007. Prior to analysis and evaluation under this theme, MIC invited public comment and proposals from the various parties concerned in regard to the items or precautions to be discussed, from February 14 to March 6, 2008. Consequently, MIC received 10 proposals.
2. Future schedule
Based on the proposals received, MIC will conduct the analysis and release its results as an interim report.
