Award-Winning Slogans to Promote Safe/Secure Use of
Info-Communications in FY2008 Decided

The Safe/Secure Info-Communications Council (Chair: WADA Norio) invited slogans in regard to rules and manners for safe/secure use of information and communications or information security in order to provide telecommunications users, including novices, an opportunity to recognize the importance of these aspects and also to think about their relevance. The Council has chosen the slogan of Ms. ISHII Saki (second year of high school, Hyogo prefecture), "Think about others even when using the Internet," for the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award.

Outline
This year, as its first attempt, the Council invited slogans on rules and manners for safe/secure use of information and communications or information security in order to provide telecommunications users, including novices, an opportunity to recognize the importance of these aspects and also to think about their relevance.

From December 14, 2007, until February 29, 2008, the Council accepted entries via mail and e-mail as well as its websites. Out of a total of 3,250 applications received, its Screening Committee selected one slogan for the MIC Minister Award, three slogans for the Council President Award (one for each applicant category of elementary school students, junior high/high school students, and the general public), and six slogans for the Excellent Award.
