Implementation Status of Spectrum User Fee Administration for FY 2007 Disclosed

In conjunction with the enactment of the Law to Partially Amend the Radio Law, which requires implementation status data of spectrum user fee administration to be disclosed from fiscal 2008, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is disclosing the implementation status of administration (trial version) as well as expenditures regarding spectrum user fee in fiscal 2007.

Background
The Law to Partially Amend the Radio Law, which revises the amount of spectrum user fee for fiscal 2008 through fiscal 2010, was enacted at the 169th ordinary Diet session. The law requires disclosure of data on the administration of common benefits from radio wave use, i.e., spectrum monitoring and other administrative work conducted by using the spectrum user fee fund, primarily to benefit radio stations as a whole.

Prior to the official disclosure of the implementation status of spectrum user fee administration to be started in the next fiscal year, MIC is disclosing such data for this fiscal year on a trial basis, together with the expenditures from the spectrum user fee fund.
