MIC Television Viewer Support Centers Established in All Prefectures

Nickname "Dejisapo" decided for Television Viewer Support Centers
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has established its television viewer support centers in all prefectures, and they will commence operations from Monday, February 2, 2009. The support centers will provide TV viewers with advice, support and the like concerning the reception of digital broadcasts.

Meanwhile, MIC has decided to nickname the centers "Dejisapo" (short for Digital Support) from among the proposals solicited from November 28, 2008.

Establishment of the support centers
Looking to complete the transition to digital terrestrial TV broadcasting successfully on July 24, 2011, MIC established MIC Television Viewer Support Centers in 11 locations across Japan on October 1, 2008 and started their operations to provide TV viewers with advice and support concerning the reception of digital broadcasts.

While taking the procedures necessary to establish more centers and have one in every prefecture, and after soliciting applications from interested parties, MIC decided the Association for Promotion of Digital Broadcasting (Dpa) would be the organization to operate the centers.

In response to that decision, Dpa has prepared to open the centers in all prefectures. Having completed its preparations, operations at the centers will start from February 2, 2009.
