Outline of Application Accepted for Authorization for
Program-Supplying Broadcasting Services Pertaining to
BS Digital Broadcasting

Measure to use satellite for terrestrial digital broadcasting in poor reception areas
On February 10, 2009, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received an application from one company for authorization for program-supplying broadcasting services pertaining to BS digital broadcasting. MIC hereby discloses an outline of the application.

1. Background
On September 19, 2008, MIC amended MIC notices related to measures to use satellite for terrestrial digital broadcasting in poor reception areas, in response to a report from the Radio Regulatory Council of September 3, 2008.

On November 12, 2008 MIC granted a preliminary license for broadcasting satellite station using Channel 17, following a report from the Radio Regulatory Council of the same day.

Furthermore, MIC received an application for authorization for program-supplying broadcasting services pertaining to BS digital broadcasting from one company on February 10, 2009.

2. Applicant and outline of its application
Applicant: The Association for Promotion of Digital Broadcasting (Chairman: MANABE Kohei) Outline of the application:
- Frequency to use: 12.03436 GHzgigahertz (Channel 17)
- Type of broadcasting to entrust: 7 programs of standard television broadcasting (digital broadcasting)
- Number of slots: 48
