The ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has created a revised proposal etc. regarding the Radio Law Notification (hereinafter referred to as “notification proposal”) concerning the introduction of the Automatic Personal Identification System.
We are looking forward to receiving options from citizens concerning the notification proposal starting today and ending on the 7th of May.
Background of the revisions
Introduction of the Automatic Personal Identification System
The Automatic Identification System transmits a vessels name, calling code and other static information and the location, speed and course among other dynamic information with other vessels to prevent collisions, aid in safe navigation, and the placement of the equipment is required on all large vessels based on the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) agreement.
On the other hand, placement of AIS is optional on smaller vessels, and because of the price and other issues; few vessels are equipped with AIS currently
