Publication of the ICT Vision Conference Report - Strategy to Realize a Smart and Ubiquitous Society

Facing a Completely Digital Age after 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held the ICT Vision Conference (Chairman: OKA Motoyuki, Sumitomo Corporation President) from October 2008 to investigate a comprehensive ICT policy vision to further develop a Ubiquitous Society.
At the conference the report has been put together and published.

Background

The country of Japan is currently facing many issues such as, an aging population with a diminishing amount of children, loss of international competitiveness, and lack of a tie between the family and local society. ICT is expected to contribute to the response of these issues through using the ICT’s functions of ‘efficiency’, ‘value-added creation’, and ‘lessening the burden on the environment’ fully.
Acknowledging these issues, at the ICT Vision Conference the report titled ‘Strategy to Realize a Smart and Ubiquitous Society’ was put together to aim for a ICT which all citizens will have the peace of mind to use and enjoy their wisdom, and so that a ubiquitous ICT will be universally accepted by users, for a more evolved ubiquitous society and smart ubiquitous society.
