Publication of the Report and Results of Opinions Gathered on the Draft Report by the ITS Wireless System Upgrade Study Group

For one month from April 24 to May 25, 2009, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) gathered 12 opinions on the draft report by the ITS Wireless System Upgrade Study Group (chaired by Professor Hironao Kawashima of Keio University’s Graduate School of Science and Technology).The ministry has now published the ITS Wireless System Upgrade Study Group’s report since it has been assembled based on the results of the opinions gathered.

Details
In order to further upgrade the ITS (intelligent transportation system), an important foundation of Japanese society, recently the MIC has, based on various demonstration tests and other initiatives to realize a safe driving support system through the coordination of an infrastructure utilizing vehicle-to-vehicle transmission, and with the purpose of clarifying the requirements for wireless systems such as vehicle-to-vehicle transmission, held meetings of the ITS Wireless System Upgrade Study Group starting on October 29, 2008. The results of the study group’s investigations were assembled in its draft report, and opinions were sought from the country’s citizens, 12 of which were collected. The ministry has now published the ITS Wireless System Upgrade Study Group’s report assembled based on the results of the opinions gathered and the group’s investigations.
