Approval for Plans to Establish Specified Base Stations for the Introduction of the 3.9-Generation Mobile Communications System

Today the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) posed questions to the Radio Regulatory Council (Chairman: Junichi Hamada, The President of University of Tokyo) regarding authorization of the plan for establishing specified base stations in order to introduce the 3.9-Generation Mobile Communications System. It answered that all the applications for establishment plans were appropriate for approval, and the plans were approved.
Details
The MIC has installed infrastructure towards the introduction of the 3.9-Generation Mobile Communications System, an upgrade to the 3rd-Generation Mobile Communications System, and on April 3, 2009, the ministry settled on guidelines related to the establishment of specified base stations in order to introduce the 3.9-Generation Mobile Communications System.
From that day until May 7 of the same year, MIC accepted applications for approval of plans related to the establishment of specified base stations under the establishment guidelines. Applications were received from the following entities: E-Mobile Ltd.; NTT Docomo, Inc.; Softbank Mobile Corp.; KDDI Corporation; Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company.
The approved applicants have been designated to operate within the following frequencies:
1475.9 – 1485.9 MHz:Softbank Mobile Corp.
1485.9 – 1495.9 MHz:KDDI Corporation/Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company
1495.9 – 1510.9 MHz:NTT Docomo, Inc.
1844.9 – 1854.9 MHz:E-Mobile Ltd.
