The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is inviting proposals based on ubiquitous zone project activities which began during FY 2008, in order to improve the convenience of citizens through the use of ICT, vitalization of local areas and economies, and to establish standard technology and systems that will contribute to the realization of a platform to develop the future.
Purpose of the invitation of proposals
The ubiquitous zone projects, which include a total of 41 projects, are currently being promoted with the purpose of strengthening the international competitiveness of Japan’s ICT industry.
However, while new services and technologies created by the use of ICT to vitalize the medical, educational, human development, industry and other digital platforms are expected, the creation is being hampered by the fact that the necessary systems and technology standards for common platforms have not been done.
