Data Regarding Competition in the
Telecommunications Business Field Compiled

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has put together and published an outline of the share data for the 4th quarter of 2008 (end of March) as a part of the evaluations of competition in the telecommunications business field.

Fixed communications

With respect to the number of telephones subscribers, NTT East and West occupied 84.7% or a drop of 0.4 points to the total subscriptions, which continued its downward movement.

Regarding the number of telecommunications numbers allocated to IP telephony services, NTT Communications made up 38.9% of market share, SOFTBANK BB 20.2%, and KDDI, 12.9%.

Mobile Communications

Subscribers in the cellular phone and PHS market were largely made up of NTT Docomo subscribers at 48.7%, which continued its slight decline with a drop of 1.0%. KDDI made up 27.5% of the market share, and Soft Bank Mobile occupied 18.4% respectively.
