Results and Re-Invitation of Public Comment on Draft Changes to Interconnection Fees Concerning Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of NTT East and NTT West

- Measures for Interconnection Fees Concerning NGN IPv6 Internet Connections -

On Tuesday, May 26, 2009, the Telecommunications and Postal Services Council accepted inquiries regarding the authorization by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of changes to the interconnection fees concerning Category I designated telecommunications facilities of NTT West Corporation (measures for interconnection fees concerning NGN IPv6 Internet connections).Receiving these, the council sought broad public comment on the draft changes to the interconnection fees from May 27 through June 25, 2009, and as a result twelve comments were submitted. Based on the comments submitted, public comment will be re-invited until Monday July 13, 2009.

Background behind the changes
In order to pursue regulation of network restructuring fees and connection applications, changes are being made to interconnection fees for the below functions that concern IPv6 Internet connection services in NTT East and NTT West’s next-generation networks.
1. Function offering an interface concerning connection via a tunnel method.
2. Function connecting via a native method.

Future Schedule
A research council will be formed based on all the comments on these draft changes, which will be reported to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications.
