Results of Public Comments Concerning the Partial
Revision Proposal of the Notification Regarding the
Ability to Omit the Broadcast of Call Signs for
Broadcast Stations

- Development of Provisions for a Smooth Rehearsal of the End of Analog Broadcasting -

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) accepted public comments from May 22 to June 23, 2009, for the partial revision of the notification regarding the ability to omit the broadcast of call signs and call names for broadcast stations in order to realize a smooth rehearsal for the end of analog broadcasting, and did not receive any particular comments.
Therefore, the MIC plans to revise the above notification quickly based on the results of the public comments.

Background of the revision

In an effort to extract various issues concerning the end of analog broadcasting, the MIC will hold a rehearsal which is forecast to happen by the end of the year. A study was performed in April of the same year with the cooperation of those involved, where it was decided that the rehearsal would occur is Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
