The Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Haraguchi and Mr. Salma, committee chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India signed a consensus agreement concerning cooperation of telecommunication field measures while on a trip to India on January 6, 2010.
Background
Japan has been working to strengthen diplomatic ties with India because it views India as a vital area for strategic international development in the ICT field. A consensus agreement concerning cooperation of telecommunication field measures was signed with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
Outline of the Agreement
The agreement outlines cooperation in the following fields.
1. Technological development and new technology
2. Regulatory and competitive measures
3. Unification and collaboration of communication and broadcasting
4. Issues regarding frequencies
5. Green telecom
6. Development strategies in telecommunications
