Inviting of Public Comments regarding the Findings Proposal of the Study Group concerning the Improved Use of IPv6 on the Internet


The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will be accepting public comments regarding the findings proposal of the Research Group concerning the Improved Use of IPv6 on the Internet (Chairman: Tadao SAITO, Honorary Professor of Tokyo University) from January 22 to February 22, 2010.

Background

Based on the fact that the number of addresses used by IPv4, the primary basic technology of the Internet and the foundation of Japan's socio-economic activities, is forecast to run out in the near future, the Study Group concerning the Improved Use of IPv6 on the Internet has been held since February 27, 2009 to secure the use environment for the Internet and for the purpose of studying concrete measures to help promote the spread of IPv6 from the viewpoint of further increasing the convenience of the Internet.

Therefore, public comments will be accepted regarding the group's findings proposal.
