Since joining the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), he has worked primarily in spectrum and telecommunications policy. His responsibilities have included television channel allocation for analog broadcasting; international coordination of orbital positions and radio frequencies for communications satellites; international promotion of Japan’s ISDB-T standard for digital terrestrial television broadcasting; negotiations on international frequency allocations at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU); and radio station licensing for mobile network operators. He has also been involved in research and development of advanced radio technologies and international standardization.
In recent years, he has also worked on broader digital policy, including promoting regional revitalization through digital transformation and developing government information systems used across Japan’s ministries and agencies.
