MPHPT submits inquiry to Radio Regulatory Council on draft partial amendments to Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Law concerning the introduction of a specified experimental radio station system



The MPHPT today submitted to the Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by Prof. YASUDA Yasuhiko, Waseda University) an inquiry on draft ministerial ordinances that partially amend the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Law, in preparation for the introduction of a system of experimental radio stations (specified experimental radio stations), as per the details below.
1. Outline of the draft ministerial ordinances
The ordinances will allow the MPHPT to make partial amendments to the regulations relating to the introduction of a system of experimental radio stations (specified experimental radio stations) with the license validity limited to 1 to 2 years, on the premise that they will not interfere with existing radio stations.
2. Major points of the revision
- Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Law (Article 7) will regulate the validity of the specified experimental radio station license.
- Essential Standards for Establishing Radio Stations Other Than Broadcast Stations (Article 6) will obligate applicants for the license to coordinate the operation.
- Regulations for Procedure for Obtaining a Radio Station License will a) simplify procedure for obtaining a specified experimental radio station license (Article 15-6) and b) regulates reapplication period for the license (Article 17).
